  • Friendly Fandoms: Very strangely, with Chainsaw Man, specifically Part 2, due to perceived similarities among the relationships between Shima and Mitsumi with the relationship between Denji and Asa. This is despite one being a down-to-earth slice of life and the other being a gory horror-action series. It helps that both the manga for Chainsaw Man and the episodes of the anime's first season were released on Tuesdays.
  • LGBT Fanbase: The manga is very well regarded by queer fans especially in two fronts:
    • Trans and non-binary people who like Nao and Kanechika, for trans and gender non-conforming representation.
    • Queer women who love the Yuzuki/Makoto ship.
  • Stoic Woobie: Sōsuke Shima is a charming Pretty Boy that suffers from a difficult relationship with his parents to the point he prefers passing time in any place but his home, his past as a Former Child Star which ended up affecting one of his friends, has a hard time standing up to anyone since he wants to remain neutral most of the time and has a hard time dealing with his feelings for Mitsumi after the two try to date and it doesn't work despite this he never stops smilling
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Little Girls?: It is very common for people to mistake it as a shoujo manga, due to a lot of the character archetypes in the series being present in shoujo manga set in high school, its more down-to-earth atmosphere, and its female protagonist/ popular guy main duo. It actually runs in a seinen magazine, and it doesn't help that the author described the series as "a story that pulls from shoujo manga but only pretends to be one" in a Comic Space interview about the release of Volume 4.
