• Rooting for the Empire: Plenty of viewers had no trouble sympathising with and supporting President Ritson and his extreme stance on the Skrulls, despite it being him Jumping Off the Slippery Slope, after how terribly the majority of the Skrulls shown on screen have been acting plus the sheer Disproportionate Retribution inherent in their plan.
• Strawman Has a Point: President Ritson. While he DID grab the Idiot Ball very hard in his speech by refusing to elaborate on the relatively simple Skrull detection method already discovered (give them a flesh wound and they bleed green Alien Blood instead of red blood), viewers have argued out that his stance on the Skrulls isn't as extreme as the show makes it out to be, pointing out that aside from Talos there have been no other Skrulls who've tried to help save humanity and stop Gravik's plan for nuclear annihilation because they genuinely want human/Skrull co-existence. Every other Skrull seen is either an active collaborator or simply stands aside and does nothing to go against Gravik, making the Skrulls seem like a genuinely villainous and invasive species by and large who cannot co-exist with humanity, especially given they've been abducting humans to infiltrate their governments for years before Gravik actively put his plan into place and The Reveal that the Kree-Skrull war from Captain Marvel was started by the Skrulls themselves. Even his own supporters only turn on him out of self-interest when he turns Bad Boss and starts killing them for failure and G'iah goes for him in the final episode solely out of vengeance for her parents' deaths, while previously supporting Gravik and then flip-flopping on being helpful till the finale.
