• Crosses the Line Twice: When Ric is confronted by Dr. X for the first time, he sarcastically ask if he's the mummy of Ramses II. Dr. X's face is completely covered with bandages because of injuries he sustained in a fire, in a past struggle with Ric. Ric essentially laugh at his scarred face, although he had no way of knowing Dr. X's identity because of the bandages and thereby, realizing that he was, in part, responsible for his disfigurement.
• Harsher in Hindsight: La Liste mortelle dealt with anarchists who cause explosions and murder of government officials. Now that Paris and France are hit with terror attacks, it's hard not to draw painful comparisons.
• Ho Yay: In the 2nd installment, Balthazar quickly wants revenge for his fellow henchman's death, Carl. The way he made those words suggest that were more than just partners in crime.
• Like You Would Really Do It: Ric Hochet is dead, he's being thrown off a cliff, to be continued. He turn out to be alive and faked his death.
