YMMV / Pop (Album)

Go To

  • Cult Classic: Despite the heavy Troubled Production, the mixed reception from the critics and audiences at the time and the apparent faults of the final product, Pop would later have its reappraisal from the fandom and become one of their most beloved albums, due to the biting cynicism previously not seen from the band (or at least, not to this extent) and its experimentation with alternative dance being more prominent compared to previous albums.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Although the bridge of "Please" was referring to Docklands bombing in London and the peace negotiations over Northern Ireland, the lyrics in it became prophetically eerie after the events of the 9/11. Bono himself felt that the song became impossible to sing because of it.
