Broken Base: Many fans consider Sevas Tra to be Otep's only good album and refuse to listen to anything later than that, some fans acknowledge the next two albums as well but disregard the rest. Other fans still love the band.
Ensemble Dark Horse: Even people who loathe the band still think eViL j is an awesome bassist. In fact, many fans who dislike the albums Atavist and Hydra blame those records' supposedly subpar nature on eViL j's departure.
Narm: A lot of their videos are supposed to be brutal or thought-provoking, but end up seeming downright cheesy. "Ghostflowers" and "Warhead" are good examples of this.
Never Live It Down: While she has had something of a reputation for her poor treatment of lower-level supporting acts for quite a while, her treatment of The Convalescence on a 2017 tour stirred up quite a shitstorm on social media and even got her called out by her own fans who believed their storynote To clarify, The Convalescence was kicked off the tour during load-in on the Pittsburgh date. Otep's story was that it was due to a mix of terrible hygiene that they had repeatedly been spoken to about and entitled, diva-like behavior. The Convalescence's story, meanwhile, was that she was an absolute tyrant who forced them to close their merch table during her set, wouldn't even let them be in the same room as her at any time, and rewarded them for their help and attempts at fostering good will and being good touring partners by constantly belittling and insulting them and generally treating them like dirt. She finally kicked them off the tour for not shutting down their merch table during her set several nights before, and that was after she had previously attempted to kick them off in Florida after Otep's driver accused them of buying weed from venue staff, which in turn was an attempt by the driver to throw them under the bus after he had already called the cops after an argument with Ari Mihalopoulos. The merch table shutdowns were the thing that really got her torn into.
