• Fanfic Fuel: How did Oscar escape from Thadius? Considering how much Thadius loathes him even as a child, it’s unlikely he was just thrown out. Also, when and how did Oscar meet the other members of the orchestra?
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • The disastrous recital that became Thaduis's motivation for hating music has uncanny similarities to the climax of Sparky's Magic Piano.
  • Oscar's status as Heterosexual Life-Partners with Eric the triangle becomes this when you remember that one of Dudley Moore's first voice roles was in an Animated Adaptation of Flatland.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • In this universe, you can be thrown in prison and tortured to death for being caught doing what amounts to an inconspicuous habit. For those of you used to whistling or humming all the time, better hope your habit doesn’t flare up at the wrong time.
  • Oscar being possessed by the ring in the episode “The Ring”. The design is creepy enough on its own, but combined with the choppy broken sounding piano music in the background and how wrong Oscar acts, the scene becomes downright terrifying.
  • The beginning of the season 2 finale Four of Our Notes are Missing. The villains have set woodworms on the orchestra and Oscar and Monty are being eaten alive. And Mr. Crotchet can’t do anything about it. If that wasn’t bad enough, the viewer gets treated to a lovely description of what’s going to happen to Oscar from Mr. Crotchet, “Well, your legs will fall off, and you’ll start to look like swiss cheese. Little holes everywhere!” Try not to think about the slow, painful death Oscar and Monty would have gone through had Sylvia not thought of a way to get rid of the woodworms.
  • The conversation between Thadius and his mother in “A Fight at the Opera” about whether Thadius could keep Lucius and Tank has a really horrifying bit of information if you’re paying attention. Thadius has apparently taken at least one other kid home from school before and starved them to death through his own forgetfulness. That poor other kid and their parents.
  • The glee Thadius gets from seeing instruments and those who play music suffer or be killed is rather disturbing when one actually thinks about it. Especially when one of said “people who play music” is a ten-year old child.
• Viewer Gender Confusion: Rebecca doesn’t have the typical characteristics of the female characters in this show such as eye-shadow, eyelashes, or lips, as well as putting her hair up like this◊. Therefore, some people thought she was a boy.
