YMMV / Mother, Jugs & Speed

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Mother being portrayed as the voice of reason (or at least the voice of Brutal Honesty) while being shown to sexually harass nuns (which is Played for Laughs as a Running Gag, this film being a Black Comedy) ended up being a grimly accurate summation of what would become of the career of his actor Bill Cosby; he would eventually become known as "America's Dad" thanks to his role as curmudgeon family man Cliff Huxtable in The Cosby Show, only to later be convicted of sexual assault in 2018 after being accused by over 55 women (before the conviction was overturned on a technicality in 2021), effectively ending his career.
    • Even putting aside the sexual assault charges, Mother's already-serious Brutal Honesty scenes can be a bit wince-inducing considering Cosby's controversies regarding his very stern views on African-Americans, such as in his pound cake speech in 2004.
