YMMV / Mampato

Go To

  • Fridge Horror: The dinosaurs of the first book didn't appear again in any other book set in Ogú's time; the volcanic explosion could be a clue that they extinguished after that. The kili-kilis (little lizard-like men fearful of the cavemen, though more advanced than them) didn't appear again either. Did they go extinct too?
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: After the Chilean coup d'etat of 1973, the dictatorship took some issue with El árbol gigante, mainly because the book is about a tyrant and the book came about the same time. Themo Lobos explained that was because of the Production Lead Time. He also added he didn't believe children's comic books should be used for political propaganda anyway. Complicating things, however, is the fact that he also stated in an interview in 2011 that his comics actually do have political implications (directly in reference to El árbol gigante/La rebelión de los mutantes), even going as far as stating that Mampato is from the left-wing (but simply doesn't go around mentioning it), though he never meant to attack the dictatorship directly.
