• Anvilicious: So it's a story about a past rape victim dealing with a snide, condescending bastard named... Dicko. Gee, is there maybe supposed to be a theme here, or something...?
• Fridge Brilliance: Sonnie not only is fighting for her life, but she also doesn't suffer from lag effect. Being on the arena herself, she reacts faster than her opponents, who must relay the commands and can get distracted from the combat itself.
  • Assuming that the beasts don't have meaningful internal organs translates into Sonnie having yet another reason to keep her secret, she could be disabled by hitting close to her brain (concussions, etc.) while her opponent wouldn't.
