• Broken Base: The game's short length compared to other games of its genre has been a point of contention among fans. On the one hand, there are those who dislike its short length, saying the game lacks the depth of other games in its genre and who get annoyed at how quickly they run out of things to do. Other fans enjoy the game precisely because it's short, feeling that it makes getting 100% Completion a reasonable task for the average player and that it encourages replays.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Perhaps not surprisingly, Dark is one of the most popular characters in the game. He's a canonized version of the Draco in Leather Pants often seen with RPG villains, whose personality is exactly as brooding outside but fluffy inside as many such villains are in fanfic. It also lends to canon Angel/Devil Shipping should the Hero decide to date him.
• It's Short, So It Sucks!: The game is rather short by the standards of its genre, with a relatively small number of tasks to do and most of its "sandbox" mode lying in designing and customizing your town. Some fans have been highly critical of this, being disappointed in its small amount of content and being disappointed that the developer has no plans to support the game with content updates.
• That One Sidequest: Getting all of the flower hybrids is one of the most difficult tasks in the game. While it's possible to "shortcut" getting all the fish and bugs, as completing upgrades sometimes gives you rare fish and bugs, and the Fishing Trip/Catacomb Tree allow you to catch out-of-season critters, there's no way to get all of the flowers except breeding them yourself. And it's a slow process, as flowers can only breed once per day, and there's no guarantee that the new blossoms will be the hybrid you need.
