• Harsher in Hindsight: One of the investigating officers, Detective Robert "Doom" Dumas, expresses a prejudiced attitude towards the Romani, initially dismissing Nico Grey's disappearance as a "con" and using Nadia Grey's attack on Marc Rajic as proof that he was right in his bias. Four seasons later, Dumas would be involved in the shooting of an unarmed Black college student, resulting in him being indicted for reckless endangerment.
• Questionable Casting: Gilbert Gottfried, of all people, as a one-off lab tech. He basically analyzes and traces cell phone evidence, and doesn't speak in his usual voice.
• Retroactive Recognition: A pre-Riverdale Lili Reinhart appears as the Villain of the Week.
