• Aluminum Christmas Trees: The episode seems to be obviously based on the Dominique Strauss-Kahn case, but in fact predated the incident by several months.
• Harsher in Hindsight: This episode is based on the 2006 arrest of Jeffrey Epstein and his use of hiring teen girls for massages to lure them in for sexual assault. Things have only since gotten worse since that arrest as we now know he also kidnapped girls to produce for wealthy clients and was later killed to prevent those clients from being implicated.
• Retroactive Recognition: Erin Moriarty, best known for playing Starlight in The Boys, make her debut appearance as Dru, one of Jordan Haynes' rape victims.
  • A pre-Shadowhunters Katherine McNamara plays the first girl to come to the precinct after reading Dominique's blog.
