YMMV / Killer Frequency

  • Alas, Poor Scrappy: As much of a jackass Jimmy was for making Carrie fear for her life, hearing Carrie and the rest of her friends mourning his death is a good reminder that at the end of the day, they are all still friends and Jimmy didn't deserve to get brutally slaughtered.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Maurice's earlier comment about the Whistling Man not even being a "disappointing twinkle in his father's eyes" certainly is a lot more harsh when we find out George died before Henry was even born, and also that George might be in the afterlife looking at his girlfriend and son in disappointment at what they're doing.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: Hearing the successful guitar synth stinger, after making the right live-saving choice, is always reassuring after a tense life-or-death moment. Sometimes the game will throw a curveball and use its failure variant, to reflect in-universe uncertainty, only to use this sound effect afterward when a caller is revealed to be alive and well.
  • Spiritual Successor: More than a few players have noted that this game is very similar to Do You Copy?, another horror game where you have to use a radio to guide a potential victim to safety from a killer by using maps and information at your disposal, save for there being a slightly larger cast and the main characters having voice acting. And like Do You Copy, it turns out that you're not as safe from the killer as you might have thought.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic:
    • Despite everything that happened to her, the sheer Lack of Empathy Marie displays to her victims even after knowing they were coerced/threatened into keeping George's death quiet can certainly kill a lot of sympathy for her. Failing to save Ricky and hearing her kill his dog over the radio definitely will. However even worse, if you fail to stall Marie for long during the interview with Teddy, she will cruelly murder Peggy regardless of whether you find the birthday card or not, and this is where you likely will start to hate her (if you haven't already)
    • Clive threatening to beat Virginia within an inch of her life can kill off some sympathy for him, especially since it was completely unnecessary.
