YMMV / Just Between Lovers

  • Awesome Music:
    • The OST of Just Between Lovers is absolutely beautiful, with the soulful melody and lyrics of each song.
    • The song 'True Love' is sung by Lee Jun-Ho himself.
  • He Really Can Act: Junho does an amazing job at selling Kang Doo's grief. Many fans agree that his performance in Just Between Lovers his one of his best when it comes to his acting skills.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Jeong Yoo Taek. Acts like a total asshole and while it doesn't excuse him for his arrogant behaviour, it's hard not to feel bad for him after he says that he was basically forced into his family's business, and had to give up his own dreams and aspirations, and had to break up with the person he was in love with.
  • Tear Jerker: The series is jock full of these, with every episode having at least one tearjerker moment, if not more.
    • Grandma's death is probably one of the biggest tearjerkers in the series... and looking at it from Kang Doo's perspective makes it all the sadder; first he lost his father and his dream in the accident, and then his mother... and now he also lost Grandma, who was one of the very few people he was close to.
    • Kang Doo's Imagine Spot in episode 13 about what would have happened if the accident didn't happen: Though they would have exchanged glances at the ice cream shop, Moon Soo would have still met her first love on that day. In the future, Kang Doo would have been a successful soccer player loved by the whole of Korea, Moon Soo would become an art director, while Joo Won and Yoo Jin work together happily as a couple. Seeing how happy all of them could've been, it makes you really wonder just how much that one accident affected all of their lives. The one that hits the hardest is seeing the sheer joy in Kang Doo's face as he leads the Korean team to victory.
  • The Woobie: All the characters are this at some point in the series, even Yoo Taek.
    • Ha Moon Soo. She lost her younger sister in the accident, which in turn led to her family being torn apart. She also loses her memories of said accident. The poor girl is plagued with guilt and self-loathing, and things only get better for her after she meets Kang Doo. Also counts as an Iron Woobie.

    • Seo Joo Won. His father committed suicide after being blamed for the accident (with Joo Won being the one to discover his body), his girlfriend (the only person he trusted) left him for the company, and his mother married said girlfriend’s father so that Joo Won could have a chance to become a successful architect.

    • Jeong Yoo Jin. Coming from a stereotypical rich family, she had no friends, a family who cared about making money more than their children, and was ostracized by the other people at school due to her connections. Joo Won, her only friend, became her boyfriend, and they broke up after the accident happened since she had to help her family and the company. And because they became siblings, it screwed up her family even more.

    • Iron Woobie: Out of all the characters, Lee Kang Doo takes the cake in Woobie points. Seriously, this guy's been through it all. The S Mall collapse led to him horribly injuring his leg, preventing him from being a soccer player, the only dream he'd ever had, and losing his father in the said accident. And then his mother also died, leaving him to take care of his little sister alone. Later on, it's also revealed that he was the last survivor found, lasting for SEVEN DAYS under all of that rubble. The experience traumatized him to the point that it left him with severe PTSD and another mental condition similar to schizophrenia. And unlike the other victims of the incident, his father wasn't even compensated. Despite all this, he worked his butt off so that he could pay the debts and support his sister's dream of becoming a doctor. Things get better for him after he meets Moon Soo, as he starts living in the true sense of the word instead of just barely surviving like he had been for the past several years. And then grandma, who had been his Parental Substitute of sorts for so many years, dies due to brain tumor. If this wasn't enough, after a couple of episodes, he is told that this time he is dying and doesn't have long to live. And then he realizes that he can't even die peacefully, because that would mean leaving his sister completely alone, as he is the only family she has left. Had it not been for him receiving a transplant surgery at the last moment, he'd probably be the most tragic character in the whole series.
