• Ass Pull: After all but stating that Monarch was Cronus Ampora's secret identity, Edrobot suddenly changes his mind and decides that Monarch is really Valerie.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Valerie from Pokemon X appears in a Cutaway Gag for no other reason than the fact that the author finds her kind of creepy.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In Homestuck High, Karkat and Dave scoff at the idea of being best friends. Later, in canon, they actually do become best friends!
  • Made even better later on in canon...Dave and Karkat may well be more than just best friends now...
• Like You Would Really Do It: OF COURSE they don't get killed off by Caius Ballad in episode 11. They were just hiding.
• Nightmare Fuel: Caius killing the main cast in quick succession at the end of episode 11; he kills Jake, Dave and Karkat with his sword and throws Pinkie Pie into the Dip.
