• Ho Yay:
  • Jin and Jo. There's a lot of Held Gaze shots and Jo's shock after Jin's Face–Heel Turn and then Jo's reaction as Jin dies in his arms with a smile. Jo's tendency to say little and follow Jin's suggestions without dissent add to the effect, and then of course there's the Deadly Hug.
  • Some viewers get a Sana-has-two-daddies feel from the trio, prior to the Face–Heel Turn.
• The Scrappy: Gora, the street punk who looks like a midget cartoon creature in a pink jumpsuit and (initially) serves absolutely no purpose in the story except to annoy the other characters and the viewer.
