YMMV / In a World…

Go To

  • Designated Villain: Gustav (Ken Marino) is a sexist jerk with an entitlement complex, but he never actually does anything underhanded or immoral. His "crimes" are limited to taking up some of Carol's father's attention, having consensual sex with her at a party, submitting an audition for a part they both want, and being a sore loser afterward.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Scenes with Cher (Tig Notaro) become this knowing from the "Tig" documentary that the actress was sick with a near fatal C-diff infection during filming.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: Scenes with Cher (Tig Notaro) and Nancy (Stephanie Allynne) awkwardly flirting with each other are this since the two actresses got together and married in 2015.
  • Why Would Anyone Take Her Back?: Moe takes Dani back, even offering a Grand Romantic Gesture to welcome her back into the relationship, although she never even directly apologizes for cheating on him (he has to hear at second hand that she's sorry).
  • Unintentional Period Piece: Voiceover narration over trailers has all but vanished in the present day except as parody, making the film’s plot about breaking into the job outdated. This may add a Harsher in Hindsight perspective to Carol’s efforts to diversify the field, as it comes right as the movie narrator role was dying out.
