- Alternate Character Interpretation: Tanaka gets a few different theories, mostly revolving around how he acts around Ueno:
- A common theory is that he's simply Obfuscating Stupidity; he knows exactly what Ueno is trying to do, but wants to tease her by acting oblivious.
- Some think he shows no reaction to Ueno because he actually likes Yamashita, citing the gachapon chapter as a big example (as Ueno says that it makes the thing they want the most to appear, and immediately afterwards Yamashita's panties are shown, leading her to slap him).
- There are some who think he has an ambiguous disorder that leaves him unable to notice Ueno's crush on him.
- Audience-Alienating Premise: It's a gag series involving a teen genius trying to win the affections of a boy she likes via several weird and often perverted gadgets she makes herself. Not too hard a sell on it's own (especially by anime standards) but the fact that the very first episode revolves around a high school age girl obsessively trying to get her classmate to drink her (purified) urine makes it a little hard to convince a lot of folks to give it a chance.
- Cliché Storm: A red-haired, twin-tailed tsundere who cannot just spit a love confession out, a dark-haired average guy who doesn't get anything, and a silent, stoic girl that makes the third leg - the series' cast could not lean any more on the same archetypes popularized by Neon Genesis Evangelion in the 90s, which is part of its charm for some.
- Moe: Ueno in particular, is adorable with her tsundere attitude and her pigtails.
