• Fanfic Fuel: After The Reveal about The Author, there were some fan ideas about what would have happened if Dipper had gotten to ask The Mailbox about him and learned about Ford.
• Genius Bonus: As mentioned below, the Hide-behind is a "real" legend, steaming from old Logger-men fables. To whom did the Pines go to ask about the hide behind?
• Harsher in Hindsight: Stan’s increased anger at Dipper in "Stan’s Tattoo" becomes justified after it was revealed that his "tattoo" is actually a burn scar he got fighting with Ford moments before the latter was pushed into the portal.
• Older Than They Think: Many YouTube comments note that the Hide-Behind seems a lot like a Gravity Falls version of the Slender Man. There actually is, however, a folktale about the Hide-Behind, though Gravity Falls does take some liberties (it's a bear-like creature that could suck in its stomach, for one).
