YMMV / Fate/Grand Order: First Order

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The score by Ryo Kawasaki is excellent foreshadowing for his collaboration with Keita Haga on Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia.
    • Mash's theme "KYRIELIGHT" is an energetic battle piece that highlights her determination.
    • "Dimension" the music that plays as Flauros reveals his true name and the incineration of humanity is an eerie piece that highlights the horror of humanity's extinction.
  • So Okay, It's Average: While there were some moments in the special that many fans enjoyed, the general consensus is that it wasn't all that great. The animation is considered lacking (especially compared to the Ufotable anime adaptations of Fate/Zero and Fate/stay night UBW, though any studio would be hard-pressed to match those) and the story isn't as cohesive as the game. That said, the special did give the game some Adaptation Expansion and it did introduce some new fans into the game.
  • Tearjerker: Watching the events of the first singularity fully animated adds a new layer of impact to the events.
    • After the Rayshift is sabotaged, Ritsuka rushes in to try and help, only to find Mash with her lower half being crushed by an impossibly large piece of rubble. Unable to do anything, and now locked in the ruined facility, the two are resigned to die together. Thankfully, they end up Rayshifting anyway and Mash fuses with a Heroic Spirit who was none other than Galahad.
    • For fans of Fate/stay night, seeing Homurahara Academy empty and abandoned while knowing that everyone there including people we know like Taiga, Issei, and Ayako are dead. The music doesn't help.
    • Olga Marie's death isn't bloody, but no less cruelly brutal and horrific. After softening up throughout the events of Fuyuki City, she's ultimately betrayed by the very man she idolized, desperately crying about how she was never praised by anyone else, as she's pulled into CHALDEAS. She's far from the most pleasant person around, but she definitely didn't deserve such an agonizing fate.
