- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: With the exception of Mina, every heroic character from Dracula is given Adaptational Villainy to the point you suspect the author has something against the book.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Considering how iconic Dracula is as a villain, the fact his role is limited to Mina's vampire boyfriend come across as a major waste of potential.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Considering he's a good guy in his source material, it would have been interesting to develop Van Helsing towards a Heel–Face Turn and have him become The Atoner, setting up his role in Dracula. Instead, the story is set after the novel and he's just a flat-out villain with no nuance.
- Trapped by Mountain Lions: The Catherine, Beatrice, and the circus segments have significantly less of the actual plot than the Mary, Diana, Justine, and Lucinda parts of the story yet take up a similar amount of time.
