YMMV / Dottori-Kun

Go To

  • Cliché Storm: Just about everything in this game has been done to death by other Maze Games, such as Dodge 'Em or Pac-Man. This isn't a really creative take on the genre. Justified in that it's not even supposed to be played at all.
  • Serial Numbers Filed Off: Lets face it, this game basically is Dodge 'Em with some very minor tweaks.
  • So Okay, It's Average: It's not a game people would gladly pump thousands of yen into, but at the same time it's also at least stable and adequately designed enough to count as a "game". Of course, this is the whole point; it's a super-cheap way for Sega to sell cabs with the expectation that operators will put other games in them, if those operators want to replace aging cabs with games already in them without paying for entire new games, and as such was never meant to be played by the public.
  • Vindicated by History: This game wasn't popular at all when it first came out, courtesy of it not even being meant to be played at all; arcade owners were outright supposed to replace it with different games. However, it has gained a small following in the homebrew scene thanks to its limited hardware and interesting past. This has led to the game being dumped and added to MAME, and it also led to the creation of a Game Mod titled Dottori-Kun Jr. which adds color graphics and elements from Jr. Pac-Man.
