YMMV / Death Comes to Time

Go To

  • Broken Base: Some people find this as a touching conclusion that adds a period to the end of the classic series. Others can't stand the fact it exists because they like the way the franchise kept on going well past where this story would have concluded Doctor Who at large and came back better than ever before. Also it came out after the TV Movie which just makes its attempt to retcon the Eighth Doctor strange.
  • Complete Monster: General Tannis, a Time Lord who, in pursuit of universal conquest, leads the Defense Forces of the Canisian Suns in brutal execution of a murderous interstellar tyranny, takes vicious, frivolous glee in his acts of mass destruction, arranges the assassination of several peace-loving Time Lords, murders Casmus, and, by ordering the shooting of Sala, manipulates the grief-stricken Minister of Chance into illegally using Time Lord power, all with a view to becoming the last Time Lord, able to use his Time Lord powers unchallenged. He also slowly shoots Antimony to death, all the while taunting him with revelation of having been built by the Doctor as aid to centuries of loneliness.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The shots of the Vampires' victims are quite gory.
  • Padding: A lot of this story feels like this, with scenes that add little to the overall story.
  • Tear Jerker: The Doctor's final speech before his apparent death.
