- He Panned It, Now He Sucks!: Many fans were annoyed at Boomstick and Wiz’s clear bias against Michelangelo and to a much lesser extent the 2007 movie, the latter of which has become Vindicated by History. Many pointed out that canonically, Mikey is the fastest, most agile, and has the most raw talent out of all his brothers, and while Mikey is undisciplined and lazy, he did earn his victories through skill and strategy, such as:
- In all incarnations, Mikey is a master of the nunchucks which are one of the most difficult ninja weapons to use.
- In the 2003 cartoon, he beat Raph numerous times simply by hitting his numerous Berserk Buttons. Raph tired himself out, slowing him down, which Mikey took full advantage of.
- In the same cartoon and in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Mirage), he single-handedly stopped a gang of Purple Dragons from robbing a toy truck all while towing a kitten.
- While his first Battle Nexus win in 2003 cartoon was based on a technicality note , he won his rematch by his natural agility and ninja skills. Even more impressive, it was a death match so Mikey couldn’t be magically teleported when he got too injured.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Wiz and Boomstick dismiss Mikey as lazy, unfocused, and undisciplined and even going so far as to shamelessly call him a retard. As a result, he was the first to die. That was 2011. Then in 2020, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin was released, followed by its sequel in 2023, which told the story of Mikey mastering numerous martial art styles and his brothers’ weapons while honing his ninjitsu to avenge his fallen family. While the battle was initially criticized for its biased character analysis of Mikey, it really aged like milk after 2020 with many fans calling for a redo with unbiased character analysis.
