  • Awesome Music: The opening song, Deszcze niespokojne, performed by Edmund Fetting.
  • Cult Classic: Entire generations of Poles were watching the series and the countless reruns. Even people who (somehow) never saw it are able to hum the opening theme and recognise the characters.
  • Fair for Its Day: Nobody ever was pretending it's not a Propaganda Piece. But it was one of the first such shows in Polish TV (which was still a novelity by itself) and one of the first works dedicated to war that stopped being angsty, anti-war arthouse. In many ways, the series came in the same trend as a lot of World War 2 epic movies from the 60s made in the West. Many people were eager to look through fingers on the propaganda aspects of it, because it was simply fun to watch.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: It was a hit big enough on Cuba to become a Baby Name Trend Starter for "Yanek", after Janek Kos, the main character.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Calling someone "czereĹ›niak", which became synonymous in Polish language with being naive and not too bright, but well-meaning.
    • A more recent phenomenon: shot of Wichura addressing someone, with rest of the crew standing behind him with confused faces became a reaction macro to quell low quality threads on internet forums. The line itself is made up, however.
  • Too Cool to Live: The series; numerous quirky interesting characters appear for a handful of episodes, only to get unceremoniously killed off. One stand-out example is Magneto (no, not that one), a Tall, Dark, and Handsome Badass Biker who appears in all of three episodes where he could probably carry his own series.
