• Adaptation Displacement:
  • The animated adaptation is more well known (at least in the former USSR) than the books it is based on.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Animated shorts became very popular in Japan. To the point that Japan made a spin-off of its own.
  • Two hand puppets of Cheburashka and Gena presented cartoons and the like on Swedish TV back in the seventies, and most people growing up then will remember them fondly.
• Memetic Mutation: Starting with numerous anecdotes (of both safe and not safe for kids variety), and probably culminating in art-project the entire point of which is to spoof characters of the series.
