• Alternate Character Interpretation: Yama freezes when later episodes would establish that ghosts or other such entities are immune to the Charmed powers. Does Yama allow himself to be frozen, knowing how unfair Mark's death was, and therefore employing Loophole Abuse to allow the others to get justice for him? By contrast, Yama takes Tony instantly, and retreats when the sisters challenge him.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Mark is very popular and remembered for someone who only appeared in one episode. There are plenty of fans who wish he'd become a regular and long term love interest for Piper. John Cho even says that after years of other more famous roles, he still has fans approaching him about this episode.
• Growing the Beard: The showrunners themselves point to this episode as where Charmed began to find its feet. It was actually produced a little later than episodes like "Dream Sorcerer" and "The Wedding From Hell" (considered the season's low points) but was chosen to air first because of this.
• Harsher in Hindsight: It's Prue that Mark tells to not miss her birthdays, saying "they're precious", and using himself as an example of how you never know which one will be your last. Little does Prue know that she only has three birthdays left...
• Heartwarming in Hindsight: The episode ends with Piper and Phoebe throwing a surprise party for Prue. According to Holly Marie Combs, Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano did that for her in real life around the same time; even managing to track down several of her old friends from Picket Fences and other people she hadn't seen in years.
• Retroactive Recognition: John Cho is of course far more recognisable now.
