YMMV / CABAL Online

Go To

  • Alt-itis: Due to the way the Inventory Management Puzzle limiting what players can store in their inventory and warehouse, it's fairly common to create alt characters to store all the excess items rather than paying for extra warehouse or inventory space.
  • Complacent Gaming Syndrome: The skill system does allow some flexibility to tailor to one's playstyle. But most would opt to find follow the One Stat to Rule Them All style of distributing skill points and follow the best skill build found on the internet up to a tee. Any deviation from the stated builds will either be met with laughter or being called n00b.
  • Contested Sequel: CABAL II was not fondly received by fans of the first game, especially with the announcement that it's changing its themes from technopunk to a medieval setting. While opinions are still mixed after the game came out, it didn't reach the popularity the first game had.
  • Cult Classic: While the first game didn't reach critical success, it's still popular and fondly remembered by old school gamers as one of the old classic MMORPG's they played as kids.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The game receives mostly mixed reception outside and even in Korea, but Filipino gamers love this game even after its decline in other countries. It's still one of the most played MMORPGs in the country, always listed as one of the top 10 MMORPG's, and even hosting real-life events with local bands and gaming celebrities. Nearly all private servers available to download and play are hosted from the Philippines.
  • Good Bad Bugs: If you press down on a skill while clicking outside the game, the character will start spamming the skill without any input. This is useful in spamming skills just grinding skill points to a training dummy while doing something else outside the game.
  • Play the Game, Skip the Story: The game has a well-thought-out story, but good luck finding players who even knew one-third of whatever is happening in the lore. Part of it is because the game relies on Dialogue Tree and barely any cutscenes to keep players invested, made worse as the story barely makes any impact in the game. Another part is the long grind required to max skills and level; it's more optimal to slog through dungeons in the minimal time possible, making it impractical to read all the dialogue.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The overall reception of the game by game journalists and magazines. It's rare to find a review that even goes up to above average, except the ones from the Philippines who really love the game.
