YMMV / Brazilian Star Wars

Go To

  • Angst? What Angst?: After it's revealed that Princess Myrna is dead and that Didi's girlfriend happens to be her sister and has to take her place as Prince Flick's girlfriend, she doesn't seem to show any hint of grief over her sister's death and immediatly starts making out with Flick.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Bonzo the Chewbacca stand-in is of the more memorable characters, being a Wookie lookalike who can talk and even swears(though his lines are backwards to make the alien language, so it's not audible for the audience unless you reverse the scene).
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Zuco's elite guard consists of stormtrooper lookalikes whose armors are black instead of white. Comes Rogue One and they seem to have predicted the Death Troopers.
    • In the disco sequence, the song being played is ''People of the World Rise'' composed by the American Disco Band "The Trammps". Years later, the main gang would be known as "The Tramps" outside of Brazil.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Princess Myrna is played by Christina Rocha, who's be known as the Host in the Brazilian TV Show Casos de Família.
  • Shallow Parody: One of the biggest criticisms against the film is that despite being based on one of the best-known sci-fi franchises of all times, the film barely approachs the film's biggest elements, only using visual elements such as the characters' costumes, with no references to the force, no lightsabers and the comedy is basically the usual slapstick, not targeting the Star Wars signature elements.
  • Special Effects Failure: Pretty much all of the effects qualify, between unconvincing green screen to make the scenery, the spaceship and the aliens' costumes, which in some moments show the actors' socks and underwears during the fight sequence in the desert.
