• Jerks Are Worse Than Villains: While the film has no real villain characters, a lot of the fanbase significantly lowered their opinions on Ace after his character played out in the film, showing his Jerkass nature throughout. It seems that the writers took note of this, as when Ace returned in the final season of the original series, the character Took a Level in Kindness offscreen and is on better terms with Thomas than in the film.
• Unexpected Character:
  • Given the unfortunate death of the actor who played him, was anyone expecting Sailor John to appear?
  • No one saw Sam's cameo coming either, since Sam was intended to be a toy-exclusive character.
• The Woobie: While Thomas has his fair share of these moments, the one who took the most beatings in this film is Nia. Forced to work in a different country after her old shed was destroyed, Nia tried to befriend Thomas before Ace's trickery soured her opinion of him and ended up jaded and vindictive by the time Thomas tried to apologize.
