• I Am Not Shazam: Balala is not a character name. It's a type of magic used. The main characters' names are Xiao Lan/Shirley, Mei Qi/Maggie, and Mei Xue/Michelle.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Balala the Fairies is very popular on YouTube in Japan, perhaps unsurprisingly since it's a magical girl series.
• Memetic Mutation: Prince Youle/Noah's strange Chinese accent in the original live-action series, one example being "yu ni wu guan" ("it's none of your matter") being Malapropered into ""yu nü wu gua" (literally "rain woman no melon").
• They Copied It, So It Sucks!: Many viewers accuse this Chinese Magical Girl show of being a ripoff of Pretty Cure. Seeing as some parts of the Transformation Sequences are copied frame-by-frame from several Precure seasons' own transformation sequences, the accusation is not exactly baseless.
