• Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • Many fans love Naraka for his supportive nature and for being a good friend in general in all of the routes in the game. Many are very disappointed that he isn't an option in the game and hope he is in a future fandisk.
  • Sanzu, another one of the side characters, is a fan favorite for similar reasons like Naraka.
• Narm: White Mask's backstory crosses into this. While it's revealed White Mask/Watase was Born Unlucky and the people around him tend to die, the degree to which the latter happens crosses into ridiculousness. Not only did his parents die but also his friend, his kindly grandfather, his teacher, his stalker, and even the heroine after walking past him on the street.
• The Scrappy: Natsuhiko, the implied reincarnation of Shikishima in his good ending. Not only were a lot of fans unsatisfied with the Replacement Goldfish implications of his character but they also found his sudden Reincarnation Romance with Rinka woefully underdeveloped.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
  • Rinka. Most of the cast is given a lot of attention to what their lives were like before coming to NEVAEH and their motivations for wanting to return to life. However, little is said about Rinka's, instead being handwaved as her being "empty", without even an explanation of what made her this way. This is particularly bad as she does have a defining trait before she dies: namely, she’s undergoing an existential crisis^note namely, she came to the realization that she’s going to be repeating the same motions in a different outfit for the rest of her life despite only being 15. and may not even want to go back to her life. Yet even in the common route, she’s treated as if she never felt this way.
  • The teachers, particularly Mr. Gas Mask. Mr. Gas Mask is the closest thing the game has to a Big Bad. However, he's only an active antagonist in Watase's route.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
  • The game's main branches are divided between being a Good Apple or a Bad Apple. However, the narrative skews heavily towards the Bad Apple route, with Rinka always bonding with the Bad Apples and eventually choosing to buck the system, negating the weight of the choice beyond which character routes the player has access to.
  • The game makes a big deal of making physical contact with someone, as it allows them to see your memories. Rinka's love interests don't pick up anything from Rinka, despite her reading their memories. The only explanation given is that Rinka considers herself empty, which many found disappointing, especially since it highlights how little character is given to her.
