YMMV / Back to the Future Part II & III

Go To

  • Demonic Spiders: Nearly everything has the potential of being this due to Marty dying in one hit.
  • Goddamned Bats: The birds in Part II are difficult to hit and play an annoying sound when they're on the screen.
  • Nintendo Hard: The game has no save points whatsoever, requiring you to finish the first part of the game all in one sitting. Fortunately, there is a skip code you can enter — "FLUX CAPACITOR IS THE POWER" — so you can go straight to the second part without playing the first. Both parts are also not very forgiving, due to the fact Marty dies in one hit, and he is defenseless during the mini-game portions.
  • Scrappy Mechanic:
    • If you accidentally select the wrong artifact, it will be destroyed, forcing Marty to redo the mini-game and having to get that artifact again.
    • If you miss a key that drops from an enemy, and it is quite easy to, you have to leave the screen that enemy was on to respawn it, then come back to kill it again. Given how far the distance is between transition screens, you can see why it is annoying to do this.
  • That One Level: Any mini-game has the potential of being this, due to the floaty jump physics and Marty being defenseless against enemies.
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: This game is notorious for its low quality, high difficulty and being very easy to get lost in due to the complicated map designs. It's particularly noted for the downright ridiculous levels of Fake Longevity and its insane level of monotony. Even the tool-assisted speedrun takes more than an hour to finish this game!
