  Ari (narrating): I was harder than Dante. I think I tried to hide that hardness from him because I'd wanted him to like me. But now he knew. That I was hard. And maybe that was okay. Maybe he could like the fact that I was hard just as I liked the fact that he wasn't hard.
• Friendly Fandoms: This book, The Song of Achilles, and Red, White & Royal Blue share a pretty common fandom online with each other due to all being quite popular queer romance novels. The fact that they all are recommendation darlings for internet book-lovers community also helps.
• Moe: Dante. He's just so sweet and good hearted, as a foil for Ari.
• Narm Charm: See Accidental Innuendo. What makes it even worse/better is that it happens in a very emotionally touching scene. You can't unhear it, and it gives you some bloody good laughs.
