YMMV / A Valley Without Wind 2

Go To

  • Broken Base: The fact that it is now possible to permanently die if all your rebels are killed. Some welcomed this due to the increased challenge, others feel the idea of permadeath goes against the spirit of the original game.
  • Game-Breaker: The Boltlord class gives you infinite flight plus a huge area of effect attack, which trivializes all open areas for the remainder of the game. There are also several classes which get a ludicrously large benefit from equipment which grants "Extra shots", such as the Cindermaster (which will pretty much kill most enemies before you ever see them) and anyone with a homing attack (since all the shots are near-guaranteed to hit).
  • Goddamn Bats and Demonic Spiders: If there's an enemy gimmick you don't like, it's probably in the game somewhere. To name a few: MookMakers, quick moving tiny enemies (often spawned by the mook makers), invincible mook makers, enemies that revive after a few seconds, enemies who can only be hit on a weakpoint or while attacking, enemies who are very difficult to see, projectiles that are very difficult to see, enemies whose attacks slow you, teleporting enemies, enemies with recursive projectiles, enemies with explosive projectiles, enemies with area of effect attacks larger than the range of most of your attacks. Oh, and lots and lots of enemies that can hit you from offscreen. There's even some oddities like enemies that can only be hurt if you're standing right next to them or an enemy that can only be hurt if it's moving fast and then self-destructs.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
    • Changing the series from an action RPG metroidvania to an RTS with permadeath didn't exactly sit well with some fans.
    • The addition of the possibility for a permanent game over (A Non-Standard Game Over at that) has not pleased some fans.
    • The game generated some controversy over not having mouse + keyboard control. This was addressed in v1.002.
