Vision Haze is a dystopian "sillycore" Funny Animal comic created by writer/artist Yttrium. It follows the misadventures of an anthropomorphic wolf named Dan whose body is host to an incorporeal being named Haze, who looks like a beautiful vixen/wolfess with horns and glowing red eyes. This arrangement allows Dan to use Haze's magical powers, which he uses (clumsily) to work as hired muscle. The comic features an absurdist sense of humor comparable to Scott Pilgrim with lo-fi visuals reminiscent of PC-98 Japanese computer games. The satirical themes of the comic include Eastern European poverty and war, consumerism, and the military industrial complex. The overall tone of the comic is that of a high-speed Black Comedy.
Warning: Spoilers are below.
Vision Haze contains examples of:
- By the Eyes of the Blind: Haze is only visible to Dan and is only capable of interacting with the physical world indirectly, when Dan uses Haze's powers.
- Cute Monster Girl: The titular Haze appears to be supernatural and stands out as not being a real life animal species, having traits from multiple animals that make her look like an otherworldly canine succubus.
- People's Republic of Tyranny: Referenced by Haze's ironic "Frensoc" T-shirt, an Orwellian-sounding contraction of "Friendship Socialism."
- Surrounded by Idiots: The mooks hunting down Dan's client Sheila wear comedically large headwraps that completely cover their eyes. Not only does this serve as a lampshade for their terrible aim, but they're even shown to be incapable of driving a car down the street without crashing. The headwrap itself is a reference to the Monk's Wrappings item from Demon's Souls.
