Hinges
is a webcomic by writer-artist Meredith McClaren which ran from September 22, 2011 to February 20, 2017, made by. It follows Orio, a porcelain doll, and her imp Bauble, and her experiences in the Living Toy inhabited city of Cobble. The genre is mostly fantasy and adventure, but there is a lot of Clock Work mixed in. It starts off pretty slowly, but eventually grows lots of lore and a big plot.
This webcomic provides examples of:
- Action Survivor: Orio develops into one over the course of the comic, particularly after she becomes The Exile. She teeters closely to being a full-blown Action Girl in the climax, outright raising a gun against Hannity.
- The Exile: After Hannity finds out about Bauble, Orio becomes this to keep him to taking Bauble away.
- Familiar: Bauble the imp, for Orio.
- Living Toy: The setting is populated by sapient dolls and marionettes.
- Nobody Poops: They literally can’t, they are toys. Same with things along the lines of “bleeding”.
- The Protagonist: Orio, the main character.
