The Shaytards is a daily video series on YouTube that started on March 5th 2009. The series is hosted by Shay Butler and his family. The series has been updated daily for the past 4 years, however as of its 4th anniversary Shay has said this will be the last year of daily shaytards video.
Shaytards contains examples of:
- The Ace: Shay. He's shown to be very competent, and he's never lost to Colette in the podcast game "Which Kid Said It," even when it was two against one. He's also beaten his brother Casey in both competitions on his Shaycarl channel, much to Casey's displeasure.
- Action Dad: Shay is very active. He's lost over a hundred pounds through diet and exercise, and has now run three half-marathons.
- Action Girl: Colette is no pushover either; before Shay's time on YouTube, she was a physical trainer. Both of Shay's daughters also do gymnastics, and Colette says they've become stronger because of it.
- Arch-Enemy: The youngest, Rocktard, and the new dog, Zeke, are always fighting with each other.
- Badass Adorable: All of the kids show this.
- Sontard is a nice kid, but you put him in any sport and he'll be ready to play.
- Princesstard climbed to the top of a giant rope swing with no sign of fear.
- Babytard wrestles with her brother who is twice her size.
- Rocktard always holds his own against the growing Zeke.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Constantly, as it's a vlog channel.
- Cute Bruiser: Princesstard has taken karate.
- Damsel in Distress: Colette plays one in a superhero skit on Shay's Shaycarl channel.
- Distracted by the Sexy: Shay is frequently distracted by his wife.
- Documentary: The whole series was originally intended to document the last year of Shay's 20s before it evolved into a family vlog channel. Shay has since begun working on an actual movie documentary that will feature many members of his and Colette's family, along with several other YouTubers.
