Web Animation / Tails Keeps Sonic Alive

Go To

Tails Keeps Sonic Alive is a series of animations made by Patafoin which parodies Sonic 3 & Knuckles. When Knuckles punches the emeralds out of Sonic, he also steal's Sonic's controller, rendering him unable to move. Being the only one left with a controller, Tails has to keep Sonic alive throughout the entire game.

Season 1 and Season 2 can be found here.

This series contains examples of

  • All for Nothing: While Sonic does get his controller back at the end of the series, Tails was unable to get all of the Chaos Emeralds, leading to the two falling into the ocean after falling from the Death Egg.
  • And I Must Scream: Sonic can't even express his emotions without his controller. Metal Sonic can at least look around and "talk" even if he can't move.
  • Artistic Licence: The series takes place in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, but the final boss is the Death Egg Robot from Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Tails was unable to get all of the Chaos Emeralds, resulting in a bad ending. The "Try Again" screen reveals that Tails needed to defeat all of the antagonists who carried the Chaos Emeralds.
  • Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: For Tails. As player 2, he can revive as many times as he wants. This proves to be useful in situations such as when Tails is unable to lift Sonic while underwater, he gives Sonic an emergency breath, drowns, comes back to life, and repeats until they resurface and reach the checkpoint.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: When Lord Crump replaces Metal Tails' tails with a propeller, it's outright stated by the game that Metal Tails learned Spin Dash and Shrill Jump... but forgot fly. In Tails CD, however, Metal Tails is shown to be able to fly with the propeller tail just fine.
  • Heroic Wannabe: Lord Crump, though he's really bad at everything.
  • If I Can Only Move: Without his controller, Sonic has zero control over his body, infinitely trapped in his Idle Animation when not being carried or taking damage. When Metal Sonic loses his controller, he also can't move, but he can still "communicate" and look around.
  • Just in Time: In Hydrocity Zone, Tails can't lift Sonic while underwater, so he has to slowly push Sonic the whole way while underwater and give him emergency breaths. Right after reaching the checkpoint, the time ran out, killing Sonic, which would've forced Tails to start all over if they hadn't reached the checkpoint.
  • Original Generation: Metal Tails.
  • Real After All: Lord Crump, who is here for some reason. He initially appears to Tails in a hallucination in Mushroom Hill Zone before he's revealed to actually exist in a capsule. He ends up playing a role in later videos in the series and ends up being a critical distraction to Eggman in the finale.
  • Wham Shot: The introduction of Metal Tails, who is helping Metal Sonic move around when he loses his controller.
