WMG / Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

Go To

Scooby doesn't exist
A title like Scooby Foo Where are You. Suggests that Scooby is always missing which isn't true. I think Scooby only exists as something Shaggy either hallucinates or pretends is real. This would explain the title.

the paranormal is real in this continuity
It explains why everyone perceives ghost haunting a place as normal. I also think that Vasquez castle was really haunted

The show is set in the midst of an economic collapse.
Cracked came up with this first.

Most of the bad guys that Mystery, Inc. deal with are geniuses able to create realistic monster costumes, project full-scale holograms and carve out high-tech hideouts in abandoned mineshafts, and many of them had impressive skills before they turned to crime — in the original run, for example, three were PhDs, and two were lawyers. Yet their motivations usually involve money, finding work, getting revenge on their bosses who fired them, or getting revenge on robots, the quintessential job stealers. Plus, there's the fact that seemingly every area in the Scooby-Doo universe — ski resorts, amusement parks, mansions, airfields — looks deserted and dilapidated. The setting of Scooby-Doo is a dystopia where the economy has collapsed and skilled workers are forced to turn to crime in order to make a living.

Plus, there's the fact that the show first premiered at the end of The '60s, the tail end of America's postwar "golden years", and is most associated with The '70s, the age of economic malaise.

  • Or, the Mystery Inc. Gang are purposely seeking out locations that are suffering economically and have a high likelihood of producing the kind of desperate criminal behavior that creates the show's average villain.

Bluestone had an accomplice
He was the one controlling the wires.

Vasquez castle really is haunted
It accounts for all the other unexplained things, not Blue stone's magic tricks.

the prosperous glowing seaweed is a result of Mrs. Cutler's witchcraft

The Kingstons and weatherbees are like the Coopers and Blossoms from Riverdale
That explains why the Kingston family was after the family fortune. It is rightfully theres because they were originally the same family

Uncle Stewart is a kingston
Going with the above, this would give him even more motive.

Uncle Stewart is the swami
It would explain why he was there and had access to the swami place.
  • Tha's basically confirmed in the episode. When Sharon asks about the swami Daphne says "what better way for a swindler to disappear?" Implying that was a disguise Stewart was planning to use for disappear after faking his death a stealing the money.

Zeb and Zeke are a gay couple
Zeb likes dressing feminine as a witch. When zeke said they were partners, he did not mean in business.

Mr Greenway has a twin brother
We see Mr. Greenway (or Dr. Greenthumb which is suspiciously similar and likely a nickname) appear in an episode of Josie and the Pussycats. The only problem is, Mr. Greenway should be in jail. I think it is likely that that Mr. Greenway is the brother of the one in this series.

The Stillwall family and the Shanks family were feuding.
That's why Shanks was trying to steal the treasure

Penrod Stillwall is in danger of losing the mansion
If you look at the house you will realize it needs lots of renovations. Penrod was protecting the house to make sure his family's money will stay protected while he searched for the money to be able to pay for the renovations.

Jefferson Stillwall was beheaded
The headless specter was obviously supposed to be his ghost. It explains why he is headless.

Stillwall was in a war

The diary entry seems to support this

Stillwall does not live in the mansion
If he lived in the mansion he likely would have been able to figure out the treasure by now. It also explains why the mansion is so dirty and run down.]]

Grimsby is a con artist
His clothing remarks seem to suggest that he does not actually perform black magic and conned the kids into thinking this is what caused it. Also if you look at the skeleton that waved goodbye it is plugged in. Many of the other things in his home are likely theatrics and it is also likely he profits off people's beliefs that he performs black magic or is a mystic. If this is true than it is some Fridge Brilliance on the writer's part.

The lion from "Bedlam in the Big Top" was hypnotized too.
It would provide a non-meta explanation for why it just stands there while Shaggy is provoking it with his whip and chair, ignoring his commands. We know that the Ghost Clown can hypnotize animals because he does it to Scooby even before he'd spied on the gang enough to realize Scooby is a talking animal. He didn't actually intend for Simba to eat Shaggy, just to make everyone (Shaggy included) think they were all in mortal danger despite having revived Scooby and Daphne successfully. So he commanded the lion to stand there and snarl until he had his cage all to himself again, then sent Shaggy into it with an ominous command to ensure he'd flee for his life once the Clown's whistle woke him up.

Dr. Najb and Mr. Leech are related
They look similar and are both after a similar goal.

The real Alias Kingston founded a University
This would make him and the Alias Kingston from Be Cool Scooby-Doo the same person. It would also explain to him living in a mansion and having his own mausoleum.

The Wetherbees and Kingstons are crime families
They both live in expensive-looking houses. It is never mentioned why or how they got their wealth. The Kingstons have their own mausoleum. Both of these are indicators of having a lot of money. It is likely they are both mob families and that the Swami shop is a front for money laundering. The "Swami" isn't actually a psychic but committing fraud by laundering money under the disguise of a swami shop.
