WMG / Rugrats (2021)

Go To

Lulu Pickles will eventually make an appearance, but she'll be Lou's cousin instead of his wife.
Since Minka Kropotkin's redesign has made her look a lot like Miriam Pickles (Lou's cousin from the original series) and Celeste seems to be serving as Grandpa Lou's love interest for the reboot, I think that if Lulu does end up becoming a character in the 2021-series, she'll take Miriam's place as Lou's relative.

Kimi, once she shows up, will get an Age Lift
Whereas Susie was aged down to Chuckie's age, Kimi will be aged up to at least Angelica's age to serve as a big sister figure to Chuckie and, by extension, resonate with anyone growing up with an older stepsibling.
  • Confirmed on being aged up to Angelica's age, although Kimi's not related to Chuckie in this (not yet at least).

Howard will return
  • One idea could be that he and Betty are divorced. He is still the biological father of Phil and Lil, even though he has less of a presence in their lives.
  • Or he could be a sperm donor.
    • That does beg the question though, how would they write that while keeping the show family-friendly?
  • Maybe it'll be a case of Platonic Co-Parenting—also, since Betty's being portrayed as a lesbian in the reboot, maybe Howard will be portrayed as gay. I got the idea for this after seeing a video for the Try Guys (one from when they were still at BuzzFeed) where, as part of a "Fatherhood" series for Father's Day of 2017, they babysit kids for a day, and the (biological) father of the toddler that Eugene was watching explained that he was gay and that he co-parents his son with a friend of his (the kid's biological mother), whom the guy explained was a lesbian.

The reboot takes place before Tommy's first birthday
Tommy in the reboot uses terms that were more often used by Dil in the original (night-night time instead of bedtime), babifies names (Spikey instead of Spike), is less couragous (getting scared of going down the stairs), and is animated to be far more unsteady when he walks and seems to prefer to crawl. Combined with his high-pitched voice this could mean that Tommy is only 10 months to 11 months old and has only recently shifted from being a 'baby baby' to a 'big baby'.

Kira will appear in a future episode.
Pretty likely, as Kimi needs a mom. How will Kira be depicted though?
  • Confirmed. She appears in "Lucky Smudge", where she is more or less the same as her original series counterpart. She and Chas meet for the first time in Angelica's school carnival.

Lulu will appear in a future episode.
  • At some point, I think Lulu will show up and be a recurring love interest for Grandpa Lou. Though, instead of originally meeting during the Second World War like what had happened in the original cartoon, they could've originally met at the height of the Vietnam War during an anti-war protest, but then not meet again until about fifty years later.
  • They were likely good friends and maybe dated in the past. Lou was also shown to be into dating a male hippie through a dating app, so maybe she will be bi or pan as well.
    • That sounds totally reasonable.

Dil will learn how to talk like the other babies in later seasons as well as learn to crawl
While at the moment Dil is actually less active than his original self, as he is unable to move at all or talk, this is slightly justified with the show having him being far younger than in the the movie or show, being only a month or two old. With Tommy showing signs of growing up, such as moving from mostly crawling to mostly walking and also abandoning his bottle, its entirely possible that future plots will see him learning how to talk baby and crawl so he can become more of a character.
  • Considering how this Dil is far kinder to Tommy it is likely his first word (in baby) will be Tommy.

All the babies will eventually learn how to talk
With the show making great strides to show the babies slowly maturing (with Tommy already being taught to use the potty and giving up his bottle) eventaully all the babies will learn how to say a few words the adults understand.

A future episode will feature a parody of Barbie (2023), in the form of Cynthia.
As Cynthia is the show's equivalent of Barbie, this series would have a parody of the 2023 Barbie movie in the form of a Cynthia movie. A possible idea for an episode centered around it could be Angelica wanting to see the movie since she is a huge fan of Cynthia, but since the actual Barbie movie is rated PG-13, Cynthia could be rated PG-13 as well, and as a result, her parents tell her she's not old enough to see it and forbid her, so she has to find a way to see it without them noticing. Perhaps when she has to go to the movies to see a different movie with the rest of the babies, she tries to sneak out so she can see Cynthia, similar to the plot of "At the Movies" from the original 1991 series.

The reason why Kira and Chas aren’t together yet is a correction to a problem from the original series.
Chas and Kira got together and married less than 4 months after meeting. It wasn’t exactly subtle that Kira and Kimi were only introduced to give Chuckie a stepMother and stepsister. (Kira and Chas talked about their children, Kimi confirmed that she only lives with her mother and Kimi was compared to Chuckie’s best friend Tommy. )

However in this series, The Writers decided to have Kira and Chas’s relationship be more slow and more realistic. They also want to give Kira and Kimi more things to have other than their relationships with Chas and Chuckie.Perhaps this could explain why they gave Kimi, Susie’s age and role in the original show. (They also might’ve made Susie younger because they didn’t want too many 3 year olds.)
