• Breakthrough Hit: For composer Yuzo Koshiro, who had done only a couple of minor works beforehand.
• Cut Song: Quite a few songs in Ys I were unused, including "The Theme of Adol". Future ports and Video Game Remakes use most of them.
• Port Overdosed: Ys I is the most widely ported Eastern RPG, having been continually available on virtually every Japanese platform from the late 1980s to the present.
