  • Approval of God:
    • This mod's version of "Soul Clash" has drawn the approval by a lot of the dev team, with one of the artists, EllisBros, saying that it’s the kind of content they live for and the creator of the mod, DastardlyDeacon, saying that the team listened to the song in a development call and everyone in there loved the song. Deacon also was fascinated with Mr.SG34S0N1C, laying the basis for Maddie/Usaguro, who was unfortunately scrapped.
    • Jack Gore, the original creator of Hog & Scorched, voiced his approval for the mod's inclusion of Hare and Labyrinth in the 2.0 build, going so far as to even approve the entities as the official D-Side variants of Hog & Scorched.
    • ItsYaBoi_Joseph, the former director of the mod, also voiced his approval for a fanmade remake of this mod's "Too Fest D Sides" based off of the official concept created by Sonic-R Maul, saying that Maul's BF chromatic was his favorite.
  • Creator Backlash: After his departure, KKV2006, one of the musicians, said how difficult the process was with Joseph around. KKV even had disdain for Soul Clash itself, calling it "complete bullshit", only deciding to remake it twice by popular demand. A shame, as seeing that this version (the scrapped mix of Soul Clash) skyrocketed in popularity by the mod's cancellation.
  • Descended Creator:
    • KKV2006, one of the musicians, voiced Ray and Fang, the latter of which he composed Soul Clash for.
    • ItsYaBoi_Joseph, the former director of the mod, voiced Hare & Labyrinth's voicelines as well as voice all of Labyrinth's samples. His little brother, Manny, also voiced Hare's samples.
  • Ascended Fanon: As a version of Sonic.EXE, Mighty.ZIP is shown to kill Ray and Maria, while Fang seemingly committed suicide in the original D-Sides mod. This is the plot of this mod, a Fan Work.
  • Fanwork Ban: After enough time had passed, many of the characters of this mod were banned from mods. However, other characters are still allowed.
  • Lying Creator: During the development of the canceled version 2.0, ItsYaBoi_Joseph, the former director of v2.0, stated that the reason Clover never made it is because the creators didn't give permission. After Joseph was removed from the team following the harassment allegations against him, Mad Man Halloween that Joseph said didn't give permission to use any Curse iterations to debunk those claims.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor:
    • ItsYaBoi_Joseph, the director of Vs Sonic.exe D-Sides and co-owner of Hare/Labyrinth, was accused of emotionally abusing the fellow developers of the mod in early May 2022. He, along with Hare/Labyrinth, were removed from the mod, although the sprites and placeholder cover remain in the now-axed V2 build.
    • TheChewster, one of the mod's former artists and owner of ZIP, was exposed for racism as well as harassing users to take down any uploads of songs, which led to him being removed from the team.
    • Mad Man Halloween, the secondary director of the mod, ended up cancelling the mod after being outed by Roboctic_developer for using a racist slur in a voice chat, manipulative behavior and stealing mods, which caused him to leave the internet after the mod's cancellation.
  • Troubled Production: The mod's development, somewhat ironically, resembled that of an actual Sonic game. That is to say, it was Hell, and it's surprising it managed to last so long given other mods have folded much sooner under much less pressure. To go down the list of stuff that's happened between 1.0's release and the cancellation of 2.0:
    • A racist known as TheChewster has been on staff and fired, with D-Sides faker now going unused afterwards.
    • Lots of cut songs and characters due to people joining and leaving the mod, with even characters that were announced very early on, such as Ved Guy, Dumbfuck, Aimless and Beelzevos, being taken out.
