Trivia / Tyria and Yaya

Go To

  • Crossdressing Voices: Isaac Wang as Apephet.
  • Reality Subtext: In one patron-only Patreon post, YayaFingerButters admitted that they had no idea what to do for Episode Four. Said episode begins with Tyria and Yaya sitting around bored out of their minds.
  • Retcon:
    • The announcement video gave Tyria and Yaya the nicknames "The Angel of Laroth" and "The Worker of Origins", respectively. This has since been retconned — Tyria doesn't have a nickname anymore and Yaya is known simply as "the Worker".
  • Schedule Slip: This sometimes happens because YayaFingerButters is a student and also has a part-time job.
    • Episode Two was pushed back a month because it ended up being a lot more work than YayaFingerButters expected.
    • Episode Four was delayed three months, thanks to a few re-writes early on — at least one of which happened after YayaFingerButters begun animating the episode — and also limited time to work on the episode due to school. The fight scene that YayaFingerButters wrote into the episode didn't help either.
    • Production of the final episode of Volume One (originally Episode Six, now Episode Five) slowed to a snails pace for reasons explained in this Patreon post. The episode was later permanently abandoned following Volume One's cancellation.
  • Shown Their Work: For the names of Ancient Egyptian deities, the suffix "-et" was often used to signify that the name's bearer was female. Apephet is a gender-flipped Apep.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Episode Two had a major rewrite very early in its production because the initial draft was too similar to Episode One.
    • In the description of a teaser video for Episode Two, YayaFingerButters claimed that the digital effects in the episode were for minor details that weren't necessarily "essential". This is most certainly not the case in the completed episode.
    • Episode Four was originally going to be about Tyria and Yaya building a Gunpla together; this was even foreshadowed in Episode Three. The concept was later scrapped due to "technical limitations".
    • An episode was skipped entirely. The final episode of Volume One was moved up one episode, shortening the volume from six planned episodes to five.
    • A reboot of Volume One was announced four months after the release of Episode Four. On 20 May 2020 the reboot — and by extension the series as whole — was cancelled in this Patreon post.
      • The same post also revealed that prior to the reboot's cancellation there were plans for a Volume Two, comprised of four episodes, along with a short film titled "Tyria and Yaya: Soulless Tyria" that would have been the series finale.
      • According to the post, the second episode of Volume Two would have been titled "Daydreaming". While not elaborated on, this episode would likely have been a follow-up on a teaser published some three years prior — over a year before Tyria and Yaya was even announced!
    • A trailer was made for the Volume One reboot, which never saw the light of day. It can be viewed here.
    • Episode Five never saw completion due to Volume One's cancellation. The unfinished episode can be found here.
