- Author Phobia: This album was written in an attempt to confront one of these; Herge had recurring nightmares of being chased by a skeleton that turned its surroundings white, and so he (on the advice of his therapist) wrote a story in a predominantly-white environment as a form of dealing with it. Sure enough, the nightmares ceased after it was done.
- Blooper: When Snowy's Good Angel, Bad Angel appear for a second time (when he encounters a large bone), the bad angel doesn't have his wings.
- Creator's Favorite Episode: Hergé considered this to be the best thing he ever drew and wrote, to the extent where he didn't make a serious effort to top it in the Tintin stories that followed, instead taking them in a more experimental direction.
