• Edited for Syndication: When this episode aired on the Shining Time Station episode, "Schemer Goes Camping", the last few seconds were cut.
• Orphaned Reference: Percy brags to Bill and Ben about the events of "Percy's Promise", even though that story wasn't adapted until Series 3. "Percy's Promise" was at one point planned for Series 2, but was dropped during production, possibly due to issues with planned the flooded track sequence.
• Out of Order: Concept Art for Brendam Docks shows that this episode was planned as the twelfth episode of Series 2 but was moved ahead one spot to become the eleventh.
• Prop Recycling:
  • The "Danger" sign was reused from the "Down the Mine" pilot.
  • The grappler cranes in the background first appeared in "Thomas and Trevor" as part of the New Harbour set.
• Referenced by...: The scenes of Percy's accident and the Fat Controller's scolding appear in a fourth series episode of Soldier Soldier.
