• Executive Meddling: HBO execs worried that viewers struggling to get a hold of the show’s numerous characters would have forgotten about Gant by the time his dead body is discovered, and forced David Simon to add the flashback, which he hated as he envisioned the show never using any artificial storytelling techniques outside season-ending montages.
• Production Posse: Peter Gerety, Clayton LeBouef, and Delaney Williams were on Homicide: Life on the Street^note Gerety had a guest spot in season four before becoming a regular starting in season six, LeBouef played a recurring character throughout the series, and Williams was a guest star in the seventh season premiere, and LeBouef, Lance Reddick and Williams were also in the miniseries The Corner, co-written by David Simon.
