  • Alan Smithee: When this episode was first broadcast, the credited writer was Lawrence Talbot, a pseudonym for regular writer-producer Dana Gould. All subsequent versions (US repeats, international broadcasts and home video releases) used Gould's real name.
  • Banned in China: Like "Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo"note , "Blame It on Lisa"note  and later "E Pluribus Wiggum"note , which were all banned in the countries mocked in those episodes, this was banned by the Chinese government for the unflattering references to the country, including the scene of Homer saying that Mao Zedong was "like a little angel that killed 50 million people". This episode is also unavailable in the Hong Kong version of Disney+.
  • Deleted Scene: The Simpsons try to remain inconspicuous.
