• Completely Different Title: As usual with Chinese dramas, the English title is nothing like the original one.
• Dawson Casting: Ning Yi is in his late twenties, while Chen Kun was 41 during filming. Luckily he looks younger than he is.
• "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: Ni Ni (Zhi Wei) sang "何奈何/Hé Nài Hé/Why to No Avail".
• Method Acting:
  • Chen Kun learnt how to weave Shu brocade on the weaving machine Ning Yi uses — incidentally a real weaving machine rented from the Sichuan Shu Brocade Museum.
  • All of the actors had to learn to speak in a form of classical Chinese from the Tang dynasty.
• Underage Casting: Ni Da Hong (Ning Shi Zheng) is only eleven years older than Hai Yi Tian, the oldest of the actors who play Shi Zheng's sons.
