- Actor Allusion: Dan Aykroyd plays one of two super-wealthy brothers who attempts to strip one man of his position and replace him with a nobody. This is similar to the plot of Trading Places.
- A more subtle one: Zach Galifianakis is the real-life nephew of a former U.S. Congressman from North Carolina.
- Dueling-Stars Movie: Will Ferrell vs. Zach Galifianakis, who's funnier?
- Missing Trailer Scene: Various lines are not spoken in the final film, including "Salamat", "He just punched a baby", and Cam Brady saying "My hair could lift a car off a baby if it had to" and "Your mother's like a vacuum cleaner. She sucks, she blows and gets laid in the closet."
- Also not included is Marty Huggins shooting Brady with a crossbow. In the movie, it is a rifle.
